History and religion are two inseparable elements once the peoples’ religion makes the Nations’ character.

In this tour, we can see the religious influence in our community, starting with the pre-hispanic period until modern times. This tour is organized as follows:

We start at the Historic Center of Guadalajara, in a 2 hours tour, then we continue with a walking tour as follows:

The Government Palace

Among other works of art, we can see in the wide staircase of this palace the masterpiece of the muralist Jose Clemente Orozco El Hidalgo Incendiario.

The Cathedral

This beautiful building, with amazing architecture dating back centuries, shows the changes our society has experienced in the last 350 years.

Regional Museum of Guadalajara

This museum shows a representation of the shaft tombs. It also shows the way people lived in prehistoric age.

Plaza Liberación

The main square where the most important buildings can be admired.

Degollado Theater

This magnificent construction with a neoclassic style has the most beautiful mural paintings from Jacobo Galvez in its interior. This building is one of the main icons of Guadalajara.

Plaza Fundadores

This plaza shows us the reason Guadalajara is different from other Mexican cities and we learn about its ancient history.

Instituto Cultural Cabañas

This building is the most important one in the whole state of Jalisco and was declared “heritage of humanity” by UNESCO, because of its original purpose. This famous building houses a mural master piece of Jose Clemente Orozco.

Afterwards we head to Zapopan though the traditional route followed by the image of The Virgin of Zapopan in its return to her altar after visiting Guadalajara every 12th of October.

We will take a walk along the path that takes us to the Basilica and will be visiting the museum of the Virgin as well as the Museum of the Huichol, both located in the same Franciscan monastery.
